Maria's Story
You know me as Jo Gralow
School
I attended Shelton High for 4 years, but move to Huntsville, AL in May, 1965, just before graduation. I was a southern girl and had an accent, because of that, many people would ask me to say something so they could hear me talk.
While at Shelton, I was a forward on the Girls Basketball team for four years and was active in other sports, softball & track, as well. I started college at the University of Minnesota and moved to California where I graduated from San Jose State University with a major in Psychology nd a minor in Biology..
Life
I married Tom Carlson, from Minnesota in 1968. We met while working for The Boeing Company and have two children, Glen born in 1983 and Allyson born in 1987. We lived in AL, MN, CA and Germany. Our love of travel took us all over the United States, Canada and Europe and if our children hadn't found their love of sports (Glen, ...Expand for more
ice hockey & Allyson a horse owner & exhibitor ), we would have travelled much more. We purchased homes in our favorite places; Maui and Park City, UT, where the family still come together for special celebrations. Tom died of brain cancer in 2010.
My family continues to be huge sports fans, hockey being our favorite. For 24 years I have been a season ticket for the San Jose Sharks. Frequently travelled to other states for games and to Minnesota for high school state hockey tournaments.
Work
I worked for The Boeing Company on the Apollo / Saturn 5 Project (the race to the moon). That was where I met and married my husband, Tom Carlson. After we moved to San Francisco Bay area, I worked as a business analysis for Hewlett Packard for over 18 years. Retired when my son entered middle school.
Also for over 20 years I owned and managed Maui and Park City rental property.
Life continues to be good!
